Mike Epstein Annual Award - 2012

The MTA Educational Foundation established an annual award in 2009 in memory of their late colleague, Mike Epstein. Each year, the award is presented to the person who best exemplifies Mike’s goals for long-term sponsorship of technical analysis in academia and in practice.
The 2012 award was presented to Charles Kirkpatrick II, CMT and Julie Dahlquist, PhD, CMT, co-authors of the textbook Technical Analysis: The Complete Resource for Financial Market Technicians. This book is the required reading for the Market Technicians Association's Chartered Market Technicians (CMT) program, Level II of the Certified Financial Technician (CFTe) program of the International Federation of Technical Analysts (IFTA), STA Diploma Course (UK) and is also the principle textbook for the MTA Educational Foundation’s university courses.
Julie Dahlquist has been a Senior Lecturer in Finance at the University of Texas - San Antonio since 2004. Charles Kirkpatrick taught technical analysis as an Instructor in Finance at Fort Lewis College, Durango, CO and later as an Adjunct Professor of Finance at the Brandeis University International Business School, Waltham, MA.
The inaugural Mike Epstein Award was presented to Andrew W. Lo, Ph.D. in 2009. Dr. Lo is a professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
The Mike Epstein Award was presented to Henry (Hank) Pruden, Ph.D. in 2010. Dr. Pruden is a professor at Golden Gate University in San Francisco and has been involved in the technical markets for many years.
In 2011 the Mike Epstein Award was presented to Bruce Kamich, CMT. Bruce is an adjunct professor at Baruch College and a former president of the MTA Educational Foundation.
In 2014, the award was presented to Professor Blake LeBaron of Brandeis University.
